The CertiPath Premium service offers a cross-certification service to commercial enterprises that are operating Principal Certificate Authorities under their Enterprise Certificate Policy (CP) and Certification Practice Statement (CPS).

The cross-certification process entails a policy mapping exercise which identifies the appropriate assurance level for interoperability.

Upon successful policy mapping and audit, technical cross-certificates are exchanged with the applicant enterprise's Principal CA. Typically third party auditors perform a compliance analysis of CP to CPS and subsequently perform a compliance audit that compares the CPS to the operations of the PKI that has been implemented.
